US designs specialised courses for Indian students

In alignment with India’s progressive National Education Policy of 2020, the United States has initiated an innovative educational program to provide Indian students with the opportunity to pursue one-year professional master’s degrees with specialized industrial focus at American universities, NDTV reported.

This groundbreaking initiative, set to commence in the fall semester of 2024, exclusively caters to students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Under this program, once students successfully complete their chosen courses, they will be eligible to remain in the United States for a period of up to three years, subject to existing visa regulations. This extended stay in the U.S. will enable them to gain valuable work experience within the industry and facilitate the repayment of their student loans.

The initiative has sparked enthusiasm among both American and Indian universities, with more than twenty American institutions and over fifteen Indian universities actively engaging in discussions on how to capitalize on this unique opportunity. The U.S. State Department is playing a pivotal role in facilitating these dialogues, underscoring the collaboration between the two nations in the field of education.
