In a significant diplomatic outreach, V Muraleedharan, Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs of India, is set to embark on official visits to the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Kenya from November 20 to 23, 2023, a Ministry of External Affairs press release said.
Accompanying the MoS will be a formidable 30-member business delegation from India, reflecting the nation’s commitment to fostering robust economic ties with its African counterparts.
The diplomatic mission kicks off with MoS Muraleedharan’s visit to Zanzibar, where he is scheduled to meet with President Hussein Ali Mwinyi and engage in discussions with various ministers. A notable highlight includes his visit to the Zanzibar campus of IIT Madras, symbolizing the collaborative efforts between India and Tanzania in the realm of education and technology.
Subsequently, the journey continues to Dar-es-Salaam, where bilateral discussions with Tanzanian leadership are on the agenda. A key event is the business meeting chaired by MoS Muraleedharan and his Tanzanian counterpart, aiming to foster stronger trade and investment ties between the two nations. Additionally, the MoS will interact with the vibrant Indian community in Dar-es-Salaam.

Moving on to Kenya from November 22-23, 2023, the minister is set to meet the top leadership of the country. Meetings with various Kenyan ministers and government officials are also on the agenda.
As part of the cultural engagement, the MoS will visit the University of Nairobi and interact with the Indian diaspora residing in Kenya. In a poignant moment, he will inaugurate an exhibition highlighting the crucial role played by Indian soldiers in East Africa during World War I.
