West Bengal launches Apon Bangla portal for NRIs

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the portal recently in Kolkata after paying homage to martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue in Bangladesh

The state government has launched a portal, Apon Bangla aiming to connect Pravasi Bengalis, non-resident Indians (NRIs), persons of Indian origin (PIO) and overseas citizens of India (OCI) of West Bengal origin, reported Statesman News Service. The portal will be available on an online platform https://aponbangla.wb.gov.in.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the portal recently in Kolkata after paying homage to martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue in Bangladesh.

There will also be a facility called ‘alumni connect’ on the platform to enable the users to connect them with their school and college friends.

Apon Bangla cards would be provided for the NRIs, POIs and OCIs of West Bengal origin. The portal would also serve as a platform for redressing their grievances.

The users of the portal would also be allowed to express their feedback and suggestions to the state government. There will also be a facility called ‘alumni connect’ on the platform to enable the users to connect them with their school and college friends
