In recent years, Denmark has steadily gained attention as a promising study destination for Indian students. While countries like the USA, the UK and Australia remain popular, Denmark now offers a strong mix of quality education, practical learning and career opportunities. The country has over 30 higher education institutions and more than 500 English-taught programmes across bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels.

According to 2024 data, around 27,700 international students were enrolled in Danish higher education, including over 500 students from India. Popular fields of study include engineering, life sciences, business, information technology, architecture and environmental sustainability.

One of Denmark’s biggest strengths is its student-centred education system. Universities focus on problem-based learning, where students work in groups to solve real-life challenges, often in collaboration with companies

This approach builds critical thinking, teamwork and practical skills that employers value worldwide. Leading institutions such as the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, Technical University of Denmark and Copenhagen Business School are globally recognised for research and innovation.

Denmark is also known for being one of the safest and happiest countries in the world. International students benefit from a welcoming, inclusive society and strong university support systems that help with academics, housing, mental well-being and career guidance.

Tuition fees for Indian students generally range from ₹5 lakh to ₹16 lakh per year, depending on the university and course. Living costs are higher than in many countries, averaging ₹70,000 to ₹1,05,000 per month. However, students can work up to 20 hours a week during studies and full-time in summer, helping to manage expenses.
