Cheap and luxury travel to IGI airport is possible now in merely INR 1,170
The Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, and the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, flagged off the Volvo bus service to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi from Jalandhar, reported IANS.
“This is a historic occasion when the Punjab government has fulfilled its promise with the people by ending monopoly of the private transporters and introducing cheap and luxury travel to IGI airport in merely INR 1,170 thereby stopping loot of people,” said Mann. He was talking to those who had gathered to witness the flag-off.
The Punjab CM said that seven Volvo buses would ply from the Jalandhar bus stand to the Delhi airport. Similar buses will also start from Amritsar, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Patiala and Chandigarh daily to the airport for international passengers arriving at the Delhi International Airport.
The Delhi CM said that it was an important day for Punjab as the Volvo buses started departing to the IGI Airport. He said the facility would be smooth and beneficial especially for the Punjabi diaspora
Booking seats on the buses can be done online three months prior to travel. Tickets can also be booked at the counters of the bus stand six months ahead of the journey.
The Punjab CM blamed the successive Congress and Akali governments for not initiating government bus services to the airport. Mann said the transporter leaders of both these parties minted the money illegally by not allowing government buses to operate on these route. Mann also thanked the Delhi government, especially his counterpart, for extending cooperation to them.
