RIYADH, October 15: The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has urged Indian nationals living in Saudi Arabia to remain alert, stay indoors during aerial attacks and follow instructions issued by local authorities, amid continuing security concerns following an attack on King Khalid International Airport on October 10.

The embassy has opened a 24-hour control room to assist Indian citizens affected by the evolving situation. It has also advised people not to circulate or repost videos and news relating to the ongoing events, particularly unverified material.

Indian nationals have been asked to remain in regular contact with their airlines and check flight status before travelling to airports. Those who need to leave Saudi Arabia urgently may consider flights from neighbouring Gulf countries, including Qatar and Bahrain, subject to meeting their visa and entry requirements.

In its latest update on October 15, the embassy said two injured Indian nationals remained in intensive care, while another had been moved to a high-dependency unit. Four others were receiving treatment in a general ward, and one person had been discharged. The figures reflect a subsequent update to the earlier medical assessment.

  • The attack on October 10 killed Indian national Mohammed Yousuf Ali and left several other Indians injured

  • His funeral was held in Riyadh on October 12, in accordance with his family’s wishes, with the Indian Ambassador and embassy officials in attendance

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that the attack on King Khalid International Airport killed 12 people and injured 309. India condemned the strike, describing attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure as unacceptable and calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

Flight operations remain disrupted. As of October 15, services at Riyadh airport remained suspended, while airports in Dammam, Jeddah and Medina continued operating with some disruptions. Indian airlines have suspended flights to and from Saudi Arabia until October 17.

The Indian mission has urged citizens to rely on official advisories for safety and travel information. The Consulate General of India in Jeddah has also established a 24-hour control room to assist affected nationals, including Umrah pilgrims facing travel disruptions.
