Hyderabad: A somber cloud looms over the tech world as the celebrated founder and CEO of Illinois-based Vistex Inc, Sanjay Shah, met a tragic end during the silver jubilee celebrations at Ramoji Film City (RFC). The unfortunate incident unfolded when an elaborate stage descent, featuring Shah and the company’s president, Vishwanath Raju Datla, went awry, resulting in Shah’s untimely demise at the age of 56.
The mishap occurred at 7:40 pm, as Shah and Raju were being lowered in an iron cage from a considerable height with the aid of ropes and pulleys. In a shocking turn of events, one of the wires supporting the cage snapped, causing the duo to plummet over 15 feet onto the concrete dais below. The atmosphere, filled with music and jubilation, turned into a scene of chaos and distress.

Despite immediate medical attention and swift transportation to a local hospital, the severity of their injuries prompted a transfer to a corporate hospital. Tragically, Sanjay Shah succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Raju Datla, the company’s president, remains in critical condition, fighting for his life.
The cage, equipped with iron wires on both sides, grills on three sides, and a designated entry point, was being pulled by a rolling machine when the catastrophic failure occurred. A police investigation has been initiated, resulting in the registration of a case under IPC sections 304A (causing death by a rash or negligent act) and 336 (endangering human life or personal safety of others). The individuals booked in connection with the incident include the RFC management, senior event manager, chief manager (security), the contractor responsible for special effects, and the rope operator.
