This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by NRIs in safeguarding their properties and underscores the critical role of timely support from local authorities in protecting ownership rights
Two individuals have been arrested in Punjab for allegedly trespassing on a property owned by Canada-based NRI couple Amandeep Singh and Urvashi Sandhu. The suspects attempted to seize the ancestral property, where a private school has operated for over four decades, tribuneindia.com reported.
According to Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the local police launched an immediate investigation after receiving a complaint from the owners. A swift manhunt led to the apprehension of two suspects, and authorities expect further arrests as the investigation continues.
Under police supervision, the damaged boundary wall was promptly reconstructed, preventing further damage. Sandhu expressed appreciation for the MLA’s support and the police’s quick action, crediting their immediate response with bringing the situation under control
During the intrusion, the trespassers allegedly vandalized the property, damaging CCTV cameras and demolishing part of the boundary wall around the school. In response to the emergency, local MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh promptly intervened after receiving a call from Urvashi Sandhu early in the morning. Singh coordinated with Police Commissioner Bhullar, resulting in Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiv Darshan Singh and his team arriving on the scene to restore order.
