Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspects
Panic engulfed the Jujhar Avenue area on Gumtala Road in Amritsar last night after unidentified individuals fired gunshots outside the residence of an NRI, reported tribuneindia.com.
The alarming incident came to light when Rupinder Kaur, an elderly woman residing in the house, noticed bullet marks on the exterior. She promptly informed the police, who initiated an investigation.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) Shivdarshan Singh clarified that the shooting stemmed from an old personal feud rather than any gangster-related activity.
ACP Singh revealed that efforts were made to coerce Tanroj into a compromise, including a fabricated complaint against him. Despite these pressures, Tanroj refused to relent. Last night’s firing, allegedly orchestrated by Anmol Singh, appears to be another attempt to intimidate the family
The feud traces back to Kaur’s grandson, Tanroj Singh, who now lives in Canada. While in India, Tanroj allegedly had a relationship with the girlfriend of the main suspect, Anmol Gill, which ignited tensions.
After Tanroj moved to Canada, Anmol Gill and his associates reportedly kidnapped and assaulted him, prompting Canadian authorities to register an FIR. Nine individuals were booked in Canada, with three out on bail.
