Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile: DRDO successfully test flights indigenous missile

India on Wednesday (July 21, 2021) successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man-Portable Antitank Guided Missile.

The flight test is seen as a major boost to the Narendra Modi government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

“The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM). The mission marked a major boost for the Narendra Modi government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign and would strengthen the Indian Army,” the DRDO said in its statement soon after the successful flight test.

“All the mission objectives were met. The missile has already been successfully flight-tested for the maximum range. The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Miniaturised Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics,” the DRDO statement said.

The Indian Ministry of Defence congratulated the scintists and said, “The test has validated the minimum range successfully. All the mission objectives were met. The missile has already been successfully flight-tested for the maximum range.”

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO for the successful test, while DRDO chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy congratulated the team for the successful test.
