India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held a series of important meetings with senior UAE officials in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, reaffirming India-UAE strategic cooperation, particularly in the fight against terrorism and in expanding parliamentary engagement, reported ddnews.gov.in.

The discussions focused on shared values, joint security interests, and follow-ups to the recent Indian all-party parliamentary delegation visit to the UAE.

Misri met Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, expressing India’s appreciation for the hospitality extended to the Indian all-party delegation, and highlighting the shared values of tolerance and harmony that define India-UAE ties.

He also held key talks with Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the UAE’s Federal National Council, where both sides reiterated their strong resolve to combat terrorism in all forms. The leaders agreed to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation, building on the momentum of recent exchanges.

During the Mid-Year Review in Abu Dhabi, Foreign Secretary Misri met with Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, to assess the progress of India-UAE relations and chart future cooperation in various sectors.

These engagements came in the backdrop of a recent high-level Indian parliamentary delegation visit to the UAE led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, which focused on counter-terrorism cooperation. UAE leaders had expressed solidarity with India during that visit, with Sheikh Nahyan affirming that the two nations would confront the threat of terrorism together.
