High-level bilateral meetings and BRICS Summit to strengthen India’s global partnerships
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will embark on a five-nation visit to Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia from July 2 to July 9, 2025. The diplomatic tour aims to reinforce India’s bilateral ties, deepen regional engagements, and participate in key multilateral discussions at the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil.
Ghana (July 2–3)
In the first leg of the tour, PM Modi will visit Ghana, marking the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the West African country in over three decades. He will meet President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to review and expand cooperation in defence, energy, economic engagement, and development partnerships. The visit will reaffirm India’s commitment to stronger ties with Ghana, ECOWAS, and the African Union.
Trinidad & Tobago (July 3–4)
Next, the Prime Minister will travel to Trinidad & Tobago at the invitation of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. This will be the first PM-level bilateral visit to T&T since 1999. He will meet President Christine Carla Kangaloo and hold official talks with PM Persad-Bissessar. Modi is also scheduled to address a Joint Session of the T&T Parliament, a gesture symbolizing the long-standing cultural and historical links between the two nations.
The visit marks several historic firsts and is set to deepen India’s diplomatic, economic, defence, and development cooperation with countries across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean
Argentina (July 4–5)
On his third stop, PM Modi will visit Argentina for an official engagement with President Javier Milei. The leaders will discuss ways to enhance cooperation in defence, agriculture, renewable energy, mining, oil and gas, trade, and people-to-people ties. This visit is expected to deepen the Strategic Partnership between India and Argentina.
Brazil (July 5–8)
In Brazil, PM Modi will attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a State Visit to Brasilia. The summit will focus on global governance reform, multilateralism, climate action, AI regulation, and health. Modi will also hold bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines. In Brasilia, he will engage with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to further boost bilateral collaboration in defence, energy, space, trade, health, and technology.
Namibia (July 9)
Concluding his tour, the Prime Minister will undertake a State Visit to Namibia, his first ever, and the third by an Indian Prime Minister. He will meet President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and pay tribute to Namibia’s founding father, Dr. Sam Nujoma.
