Former Sona Comstar chairperson alleges possible foul play, conspiracy, and fraud in Sunjay Kapur’s demise
Rani Kapur, former Chairperson of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd (Sona Comstar), has formally requested UK authorities to conduct an in-depth investigation into the death of her son, Sunjay Kapur, who passed away on June 12 during a polo match in England. She claims that his death, initially reported as a result of a fatal cardiac arrest caused by an allergic reaction to a bee sting, may not have been natural or accidental but could involve foul play — including murder, abetment, conspiracy, fraud, and forgery, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
In her request, Rani Kapur said her son, a US citizen of Indian origin with business interests and assets spread across multiple countries, died at Duke’s Ground of Old Guards Polo Club in the UK, within the jurisdiction of Surrey Police.

She alleges that since his death, she has come across forged legal and financial documents, dubious asset transfers, suspicious legal filings, and indications of coercion or collusion involving individuals who may have financially benefited from his demise.
Kapur further claimed there is reason to believe the incident was part of a “coordinated transnational conspiracy” involving individuals and entities based in the UK, India, and possibly the United States. She urged authorities to register a formal complaint, seize and preserve all evidence — including medical records, financial documents, and CCTV footage — and liaise with Indian and US agencies to investigate the matter internationally.
Last month, Sona Comstar clarified in a stock exchange filing that Rani Kapur has had no direct or indirect involvement in the company since at least 2019 and holds no position or stake in it.
