Lack of basic amenities leaves residents without electricity, roads, and drinking water
An NRI couple, Harish Kumar Chadalawada and his wife Mridula Chadalawada, who recently returned from the United Kingdom, has brought attention to the hardships faced by residents of a tribal hamlet in Padamati Kambhampadu village, Ananthasagaram mandal, SPSR Nellore district. The couple discovered the village after viewing a viral social media video highlighting its neglected state, reported thehindu.com.
During their visit, the couple observed that around 20 tribal families in the ST Colony lived without drinking water, electricity, or proper roads. They provided plastic tarpaulins to protect huts from rain and distributed essentials and ration to mark Jana Sena Party founder Pawan Kalyan’s birthday. “These families continue to live in extremely difficult conditions. During rains, they often have to move to the nearby government school for shelter,” Ms. Mridula said.
Tribal families live without basic facilities, forcing children to struggle to attend school and residents to seek power from neighbouring colonies
Despite repeated appeals, the residents remain underserved. Sailaja Kumari, whose video brought attention to the hamlet, stated, “We have met officials and the District Collector, but our requests for electricity and proper roads have largely gone unheeded. Children struggle to reach school, and we often go to neighbouring houses to charge our phones.”
The couple also approached Endowments Minister and local MLA Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who prioritised the issue and sanctioned electricity connection for the village. APSPDCL Superintending Engineer V. Vijayan confirmed that the village would receive power supply under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), ensuring three-phase connections for new villages.
