Convicts sentenced to five years in prison and 12 cane strokes each for violent robbery during holiday trip
A Singapore court has sentenced two Indian nationals — 23-year-old Arokkiasamy Dyson and 27-year-old Rajendran — to five years and one month in jail each, along with 12 strokes of the cane, for robbing and assaulting sex workers during their visit to the country, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
The duo, who had arrived in Singapore for a holiday, carried out two violent robberies within a single day.

According to reports, the men arrived in Singapore on April 24 for a summer vacation
-
While walking through Little India two days later, they were approached by an unidentified man offering sexual services
-
The pair obtained the contact details of two sex workers from a stranger and, being out of money, decided to rob them
As part of their plan, one of the victims was called to a hotel room on April 26 at around 6 pm. Upon her arrival, she was tied up with clothes and slapped, before being robbed of 2,000 Singapore dollars in cash, jewellery, a passport, and bank cards.
Later that night, around 11 pm, they lured another woman to a different hotel room. She was attacked, silenced, and robbed of 800 Singapore dollars, two mobile phones, and her passport. The assailants threatened her not to leave the room until they were gone and fled the scene soon after.
The arrests came following a police complaint from one of the victims, leading to swift investigation and confession by the accused.
During court proceedings, both men admitted to the crimes, claiming financial desperation as their motive. Arokkiasamy said he needed money to support his three sisters after his father’s death last year, while Rajendran stated that his wife and children were struggling financially in India.
