The third day of Pravasi Parichay 2025 — a cultural festival organized by the Embassy of India in Riyadh — witnessed a spectacular showcase of India’s artistic diversity, with captivating performances representing five Indian states. The audience was treated to graceful Mohiniyattam, the rhythmic Thiruvadira, and a vibrant Kerala Fusion Dance blending traditional and modern elements. The colourful Oppana from Kerala added charm to the evening, followed by a Qawwali performance from Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the state’s rich cultural syncretism, reported ddnews.gov.in.

The day began with a lively cultural parade featuring Chenda Melam, Nasik Dhol, Thalapoli, and a School Band Melam, setting an energetic tone for the festivities. The parade was flagged off by Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, the Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, who also inaugurated the main performances at the Embassy Auditorium by lighting the ceremonial lamp alongside state coordinators and steering committee members.

The event brought together traditional art forms, folk music, and cultural parades, symbolizing India’s unity in diversity through the talent of its diaspora

From Delhi, a group dance blended traditional grace with modern rhythm, while Rajasthan’s segment featured colourful folk dances, soulful songs, and a light-hearted comedy skit that delighted the audience. Haryana’s dynamic group performance, incorporating local folk styles, was met with enthusiastic applause.

Festival celebrates India’s cultural unity abroad

The Pravasi Parichay festival, running from October 28 to November 3, 2025, celebrates India’s cultural richness through state-themed days of performances, music, dance, and cuisine. Launched in 2023 in collaboration with Indian diaspora associations, the festival reflects the strong cultural ties between India and Saudi Arabia.

Coinciding with National Unity Day on October 31, Pravasi Parichay emphasizes the spirit of “Unity in Diversity”, one of India’s core values. Three more state-day cultural programs — on October 31, November 1, and November 2 — will continue to showcase India’s artistic and regional traditions.

The festival has witnessed overwhelming participation from the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, with diaspora groups actively curating performances, workshops, and community engagements that highlight India’s heritage on a global stage.
