Police say the vehicle veered off Sultan Said bin Teymur Street; two injured were airlifted to Nizwa Hospital
One Indian national was killed and nine others were injured after a vehicle carrying Indian nationals veered off the road in Oman, authorities said on Sunday.
The accident took place on Saturday on Sultan Said bin Teymur Street, a major highway linking northern parts of Oman with the southern regions, including Dhofar and Al Wusta.
The Royal Oman Police said all nine injured people were Indian nationals and were taken to hospital for medical treatment. Two of the injured required an air rescue operation and were transported from Al Hema Governorate to Nizwa Hospital by the police Air Wing.
The remaining injured were moved by ambulance, according to the police.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the accident or provided further details about the condition of those injured.

Sultan Said bin Teymur Street, formerly known as Route 31, is one of Oman’s key north-south road links and carries traffic between several governorates.
The accident comes as Oman continues to experience periods of unsettled weather, with authorities urging motorists to exercise caution on roads affected by poor visibility and heavy rainfall.
The Royal Oman Police said emergency teams responded to the incident and coordinated the transfer of those requiring further medical care. Further information about the deceased Indian national was not immediately released.
