One of the main reasons behind rise in Covid-19 cases in the US is lack of awareness and spread of wrong and too much of information about the disease and its remedies.

Zignal Labs, which keeps track on references made on social media, said there was spike in vaccine misinformation on social media in July. It was five times more than June, according to The New York Times report on Tuesday.

Following misinformation did the round on social media:

  1. Vaccines don’t work (up 437 per cent),
  2. They contain microchips (up 156 per cent),
  3. Natural immunity more helpful than vaccine (up 111 per cent), and
  4. Vaccines cause miscarriages (up 75 per cent).

The rise in Covid-19 cases due to Delta variant also made most of the people believe the social media misinformation, which ultimately deviated people from taking the vaccines. It led to fast spread of the virus.
