“Our mission is to create a healthier and more sustainable future for all.”

— Tal Nazer

Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, outlining measurable progress across environmental protection, social responsibility, healthcare innovation, and human capital development. The report underscores the company’s integrated approach to sustainability, aligning quality healthcare delivery with environmental stewardship and community development, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The report details how sustainability has been embedded into Bupa Arabia’s core business strategy, focusing on long-term value creation for society, the environment, employees, partners, and beneficiaries. Clear performance indicators reflect the company’s commitment to responsible growth and measurable impact.

Environmental Impact

Environmental sustainability remained a central pillar of Bupa Arabia’s 2024 agenda. The company recorded a 58% reduction in diesel consumption and a 64% decrease in refrigerant gas usage, significantly lowering its carbon footprint and enhancing energy efficiency in line with the Saudi Green Initiative.

Through a partnership with the NABATIK initiative, Bupa Arabia supported large-scale tree planting efforts expected to offset 110 tCO₂e annually. In parallel, the company eliminated more than 150,000 single-use plastic bottles, contributing to waste reduction, conservation of natural resources, and the promotion of cleaner operational practices.

Social Responsibility and Community Health

Bupa Arabia continued its long-standing commitment—spanning over a decade—to supporting orphaned children across the Kingdom. In 2024, healthcare coverage was extended to more than 2,400 orphans across 13 cities, with nearly 9,500 medical requests processed to ensure uninterrupted access to quality healthcare services.

The report highlights these efforts as part of a broader vision to advance health equity, positioning healthcare as a cornerstone of community well-being and a key pillar of the company’s corporate social responsibility framework.

Promoting Healthy Living

As part of its preventive health initiatives, Bupa Arabia organized the Bupa Marathon, one of its flagship community engagement programs. Held across multiple cities, the event encouraged thousands of participants to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles.

Beyond athletics, the marathon served as a wellness awareness platform, offering health check-ups, consultations, and educational activities focused on physical fitness, chronic disease management, and family well-being—reinforcing the company’s belief that sustainable health begins with community engagement.

Responsible Leadership

Commenting on the report, Tal Nazer, CEO of Bupa Arabia, said:

“Our 2024 Sustainability Report highlights our ongoing commitment to people, society, and the environment. We are proud to support orphans, empower women, and champion healthcare innovation while delivering high-quality, environmentally responsible services.”

He added that sustainability remains a long-term commitment rather than a fixed destination, reflecting Bupa Arabia’s mission to build an innovative and trusted healthcare system that balances economic growth with social responsibility.

Human Capital and Youth Empowerment

The report also highlights strong progress in workforce development. Women represented 42% of the workforce and received 44% of promotions during the year. The company achieved an 85.41% nationalization rate, while total training hours exceeded 150,000, including advanced leadership programs delivered in collaboration with institutions such as MIT and Columbia University.

Employee engagement reached 89%, surpassing global benchmarks, while the company maintained zero workplace injuries for the fourth consecutive year. Bupa Arabia also expanded youth empowerment initiatives, investing in life-skills and employability programs to prepare young people for the labor market.

Healthcare Innovation and Recognition

Through its Bupa CareConnect platform, the company served over one million beneficiaries via digital healthcare services in 2024, improving access, easing hospital pressure, and strengthening preventive care.

Bupa Arabia’s sustainability leadership earned regional and international recognition, including Employer of the Year (CIPD MENA) and Best Insurance Brand (Insuretek 2024), reinforcing its reputation for balancing performance with responsibility.

The 2024 Sustainability Report reflects Bupa Arabia’s commitment to shaping a healthier, more inclusive, and sustainable future for the Kingdom.
