The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released clear guidelines for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders, and foreign nationals applying for NEET UG 2026. This comes as a relief, especially for OCI candidates, whose rights were restored by a Supreme Court order in February 2023. The exam is set for 3 May 2026, with registration closing on 8 March 2026 at 11:50 PM.

Who Can Apply?

Indian nationals, NRIs, OCIs, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and foreign nationals may sit the exam. However, admission depends on rules from central or state governments. A special note for Tamil Nadu state board students who completed Class 10 in 2021: due to COVID-19 disruptions, you do not need to enter those marks, as the fields will be disabled.

Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.

Essential Documents to Upload

Upload scanned copies during online registration, or face disqualification. Keep originals for later checks.

  • NRIs: Certificate from the Indian diplomatic mission in your country of residence (Appendix VI format).
  • OCIs: OCI card plus mission certificate (Appendix VII format).
  • Foreign nationals: Passport pages or citizenship certificate from your country’s authority (Appendix VII).

Files must be PDFs, 50-300 KB.

Fees and Application Tips

All international applicants pay a flat fee of ₹9,500 for centres abroad. Pay online by the deadline using UPI, card, or net banking.

Submit only one form—multiples count as unfair practice. Use your or your parents’ contact details for NTA updates. Foreign applicants, check state counselling rules first. Prepare documents 48 hours before the portal shuts.
