Several Indian nationals were among those injured after Iran launched a wave of missile and drone attacks across parts of West Asia, authorities in the United Arab Emirates and Oman confirmed on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The attacks come as tensions between Iran and the U.S.-Israel alliance entered a second day, raising fears of wider regional instability.

According to the UAE’s Defence Ministry, Iran fired 541 drones towards Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The country’s air defence systems intercepted and destroyed around 506 of them. However, some drones managed to cause damage, resulting in three deaths and 58 injuries. The deceased were Pakistani, Nepalese and Bangladeshi nationals. Those injured included people of several nationalities, among them Indians.

The situation has caused concern among Indian communities living and working across the region. Indian embassies and consulates have stepped up assistance efforts to respond to queries and provide support where needed

The conflict has also disrupted travel and maritime activity. An oil tanker sailing off the coast of Oman was struck during the hostilities, with Indian crew members reported to be on board. Meanwhile, flight operations across parts of West Asia have been affected due to airspace closures and diversions.

In a separate incident, eight Indian passengers were left stranded at Karachi airport after their aircraft was diverted amid the rising tensions. Airline authorities are working to arrange onward travel once airspace conditions stabilise.
