The advisory reflects growing global concern over migration-related fraud and underscores the need for coordinated action to protect vulnerable communities
Authorities across multiple countries have issued an urgent warning about a surge in overseas job scams targeting Indian migrants, with cases reported within the past 24 hours across Asia, the Gulf, and parts of Europe. The advisory highlights increasingly sophisticated fraud operations that exploit digital platforms to reach potential victims.
According to officials, scammers are advertising high-paying jobs in sectors such as construction, healthcare, and technology, often using fake company identities and forged documents to appear legitimate. Victims are typically asked to pay upfront fees for visa processing, training, or travel arrangements, only to discover that the job offers are fraudulent.
“This is a coordinated pattern of deception targeting individuals seeking overseas opportunities,” authorities stated, noting that many victims are first-time migrants unfamiliar with recruitment procedures
Law enforcement agencies are tracking financial transactions linked to these scams and have initiated cross-border investigations to identify the networks involved. Several countries are collaborating to share intelligence and prevent further incidents.
Indian government officials and diaspora organisations have also issued advisories, urging individuals to verify job offers through official channels and avoid dealing with unregistered agents. “Due diligence is essential to avoid financial and emotional losses,” community leaders emphasised.
Experts highlight that economic aspirations and limited awareness make migrant populations particularly vulnerable to such schemes. “Fraudsters adapt quickly, using technology to scale operations,” analysts observed.
For Indian nationals, the warning serves as a critical reminder to rely on authorised recruitment agencies and to seek verification before making payments. Authorities have encouraged victims to report incidents promptly to facilitate investigations.
