UK police have arrested an Indian-origin man in connection with a multi-million pound financial scam that allegedly targeted migrant communities, including Indian nationals. The arrest, confirmed within the past 24 hours, follows a lengthy investigation into fraudulent investment schemes.
Authorities stated that the suspect promoted high-return investment opportunities through online platforms, convincing victims to transfer large sums of money. The funds were allegedly diverted into personal accounts, with minimal or no returns provided.
“This was a calculated scheme exploiting trust within migrant communities,” investigators said, adding that financial records and digital evidence were key to building the case
Police have urged potential victims to come forward, indicating that the scale of the fraud may be larger than initially estimated. Assets linked to the suspect have been frozen as part of the investigation.
Indian community organisations have welcomed the arrest while emphasising the need for financial awareness. “Fraudsters often exploit familiarity and trust,” community leaders noted.
Experts highlight that such scams are increasingly sophisticated, using technology to reach a wider audience.
For Indian migrants, the case serves as a reminder to verify investment opportunities through regulated channels and avoid unverified platforms.
