A National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) aspirant from Maharashtra’s Nagpur was left shocked after discovering that his examination centre for the re-test scheduled on June 21 had been allotted in Abu Dhabi, despite selecting Nagpur as his preferred city. The incident has raised fresh concerns over examination administration and candidate allotment procedures.

The student, identified as 18-year-old Abdullah Mohammad Talib, received his admit card shortly before the re-examination and found that he had been assigned to a test centre in the United Arab Emirates, nearly 2,500 kilometres away from his home. His family said he does not possess a passport and had never opted for an overseas examination centre.

  • bAccording to reports, Talib had selected Nagpur as his first preference while filling out the application form

  • Family members contacted the National Testing Agency (NTA) after noticing the discrepancy and were informed that the issue appeared to be a technical error

  • The agency reportedly assured them that a revised admit card with a corrected examination centre would be issued

The case gained wider attention on social media and drew criticism from political leaders, who questioned how such an error could occur in a high-stakes national examination. The incident comes at a sensitive time, as authorities have announced enhanced security and monitoring measures for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination following earlier controversies linked to the entrance test.
