Large gathering of the Indian diaspora highlights Tamil heritage and strengthens cultural ties in Kuwait
The Embassy of India in Kuwait hosted a vibrant celebration of Tamil Nadu Day, bringing together members of the Indian diaspora to honour the rich cultural heritage, language and traditions of the southern Indian state.
The event, organised by the Kuwait Tamil Sangam (KTS) in association with the Tamil Nadu Engineers Forum (TEF), was held at the Embassy auditorium and attracted enthusiastic participation from the Tamil community living in Kuwait.
The programme began with the national anthems of Kuwait and India, followed by the rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, the state invocation song. A traditional lamp-lighting ceremony marked the formal inauguration, led by Sanjay K. Muluka, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of India, alongside representatives of community organisations and distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, embassy officials highlighted the contributions of the Tamil community to Kuwait’s economic and social development while underlining the importance of preserving India’s linguistic and cultural diversity abroad. Speakers also praised the role of community organisations in fostering unity among overseas Indians and strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Kuwait.
