Ahmedabad accounts for more than a fifth of the state’s NRI deposit base, with Vadodara and Kutch also recording strong holdings
Gujarat’s NRI deposit base rose 12.4 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,22,363.74 crore in the first quarter of 2026-27, underlining the continued financial engagement of the state’s overseas Gujarati community.
According to the latest State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Gujarat data, NRI deposits stood at Rs 1,08,897.99 crore during the corresponding period last year. The increase amounts to about Rs 13,466 crore in a year.
Ahmedabad remained the largest contributor, with deposits of Rs 27,326.02 crore, accounting for 22.3 per cent of Gujarat’s total NRI deposits. Vadodara ranked second with Rs 19,447.11 crore, followed by Kutch at Rs 18,212.65 crore. The three districts together accounted for more than half of the state’s NRI deposit pool.

Anand was fourth with Rs 9,746.58 crore, while Surat and Rajkot followed with Rs 9,480.82 crore and Rs 9,368.49 crore respectively

Surat’s deposits rose from Rs 8,268.46 crore in June 2025, while Rajkot increased from Rs 8,597.65 crore over the same period
Navsari recorded Rs 6,928.78 crore, placing it seventh, followed by Gandhinagar with Rs 5,353.23 crore. Gandhinagar entered the top 10, replacing Jamnagar, which had ranked tenth a year earlier.
Kheda and Porbandar completed the top 10 with Rs 3,138.04 crore and Rs 2,805.37 crore respectively. Ahmedabad added about Rs 2,138 crore during the year, while Vadodara and Kutch gained nearly Rs 1,593 crore and Rs 1,426 crore.
The latest figures follow a record NRI deposit base of around Rs 1.17 lakh crore reported for Gujarat at the end of FY26, when deposits had grown 8.15 per cent year-on-year.
