Talk about Jammu & Kashmir and there we go thinking about the Valley of Flowers, Srinagar, Pehelgam, the Dal Lake and all other popular tourist destinations. But then beautiful Kashmir has multiple other locations that nobody gets to talk about but merit a visit. One of them is Doodhpathri, that the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department decided to promote by organizing a three-day tourism festival there.

An attractive tourist destination that has been lying hidden, it was General DP Pandey GOC 15 Corps, Srinagar’s Chinar Corps (15 Corps), who came forward to support the festival. The Army distributed powered wheelchairs to two differently-abled persons, manual wheelchairs to five to six persons, crutches and hearing aids to the differently-abled persons.

The locals here now look forward to more such festivals and occasions that will help boost the regional economy and also give them the chance to showcase their identity

The army, General DP Pandey said, in this way will not only develop good connection with the local populace but also lend a  helping hand in boosting tourism.

It goes without saying that Doodhpathri residents will gain better sources of livelihood if it develops as a tourist destination.

The enthusiasm of the locals for the Doodhpathri festival 2021 was more than just visible, as they felt a huge respite from the depressing Covid situation.

The rich art and culture of J&K came to the fore as the festival took off with both foot-tapping and soulful singing performances, followed by the colourful Kashmiri folk dance, Rouf, besides martial art the high energy Bhangra, a Punjabi dance.

The locals here now look forward to more such festivals and occasions that will help boost the regional economy and also give them the chance to showcase their identity.
