Travel restrictions between India and UAE likely to relax further

India’s Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan is on a visit to the UAE to attend the Sixth Ministerial Consultation of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue

There may be more relaxation for the Indians visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in coming days, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said on Wednesday after his visit to the Gulf country.

The Indian Minister is on a visit to the UAE to attend the Sixth Ministerial Consultation of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue.

He also held discussions with Saudi Arabia’s human resources and social development minister, Ahmed Al-Rajhi and discussed issues like ease of travel and wage protection of Indians working in the Saudi Arabia.

“I am hoping that in the coming days, travel restrictions will be eased as there is a significant drop in the new cases in India. We had some talks and consultations on it on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue, but the formal announcement will come from the other countries involved,” Khaleej Times quoted Muraleedharan.

“I am optimistic that travel restrictions will be greatly eased in the coming days so that migrants can travel, and more important today, as the pandemic affects migrants more than others,” he added.

The ongoing Expo 2020 Dubai is proving to be the great attraction among the Indians who want to visit and see the largest business, entertainment and knowledge extravaganza of recent times.

The India Pavilion at the Expo 2020 recorded more than 128,000 visitors in the first 25 days. The Expo will continue for six months.
