Chicago Indo-US Lions Club calls for youth engagement in welfare activities

The Chicago Indo-US Lions Club extended greetings to Indian community on the occasion of recently concluded Bharatiya Pravasi Diwas which is celebrated globally on January 9.

According to Lion Hina Trivedi, Founder President of Chicago Indo-US Lions Club, the club is involved in many welfare activities in the US as well as in India.

Lion Hina Trived is working for Indo-US welfare for the last 33 years and has officiated more than 36 organizations in USA.

She has an associated non-profit organization in India in the name of MIBG Foundation which is serving the needy in India through various welfare programs.

The programmes being run by the MIBG Foundation include hunger relief, distribution projects, winter relief and health relief programs.

It also includes the Indo-Us Exchange of Ideas for Youth, disaster relief projects and many other humanitarian projects in India.

The group served in many Indian states with Sewa International during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic with emergency supply of Covid-care units, oxygen concentrations, medical equipment kits, grocery kits, etc.

The Indo-US and her associated welfare organization MIBG Foundation are also working for the new generations to get benefited from Indo-US tie ups with various employment knowledgeable platforms and programs. They are also supporting India’s clean drive called ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’ through various awareness programmes.

“After the world settles with the Covid-19 pandemic, we have plans to promote ‘Made in India’ products to make India self-reliant (Atmnirbhar) by networking NRIs in the USA to import goods from India that will result in mass employment in India,” said Lion Hina Trivedi.

Commenting on her commitment for India she said: “We are working with first, second and third generation of Indians who are outside India but feel for India. We bring them to one platform to give a boost to India and Indianness,” she said.

She conveyed special thanks to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the then Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj who helped grow the youth team.
