As the UP assembly elections draw nearer, the state gets politically active with many quick and fast moving developments

Shaukat Ali, UP unit chief of Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has laid down a precondition for an alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the coming assembly elections in the state next month.

Shaukat Ali’s missive comes in the wake of next assembly elections in the state

He says that only if a Muslim MLA from the Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha (BSM) is made a deputy CM, would an alliance with the SP be possible. He is not in favour of forging any sort of alliance with the Congress and the Aam Aadmi parties.

Meanwhile, reports say, that Owaisi has plans to visit Prayagraj, Fatehpur and Kaushambi in August to hold meetings with Dalits, backward classes, as well as professionals like doctors and engineers.

The AIMIM is an electoral partner of the Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha (BSM), which is led by Om Prakash Rajbahar. Other constituent partners of the BSM are smaller parties like Bharatiya Vanchit Samaj Party, Bhartiya Manav Samaj Party, Janata Kranti Party (R) and the Rashtra Uday Party.

Shaukat Ali’s missive comes in the wake of next assembly elections in the state. He also stressed that if the BSM contests the elections jointly with SP and BSP, 20 per cent of Muslim votes in the state would be consolidated.
