Air India Express launches daily direct flights between Bengaluru and Kozhikode

Air India Express has unveiled its latest offering with the launch of daily direct flights connecting Bengaluru and Kozhikode, starting January 16, 2024.

The inaugural flight on the Bengaluru-Kozhikode route, IX 0876, is scheduled to take off on January 16, 2024, at 18:45 hours, touching down in Kozhikode at 19:45 hours. The return leg, IX 0860, will depart from Kozhikode at 20:15 hours, reaching Bengaluru at 21:15 hours.

Expressing enthusiasm about this new route, Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India Express, emphasized the strategic importance of Kozhikode and Bengaluru within the airline’s extensive network. He highlighted Kozhikode’s distinction as the hub for the highest number of Air India Express international flights and Bengaluru’s role as the primary domestic flight gateway. Garg mentioned that the direct flight between these cities aims to simplify travel for residents, offering convenient one-stop itineraries to various destinations across India and the Middle East. He also hinted at potential expansions in domestic connections from Kozhikode, providing more travel options for passengers.

The airline has released the schedule for the daily non-stop flights between Bengaluru and Kozhikode, and bookings are available through Air India Express’s mobile app, website airindiaexpress.com, and other major booking platforms.

Air India Express is currently undergoing a dynamic phase of expansion, marked by the integration of new aircraft into its fleet. The recent additions include operations from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, with direct flights to Delhi and Bengaluru from Gwalior. In a noteworthy achievement, the airline became the first to operate a direct flight from Surat to Dubai on the day of the inauguration of Surat International Airport’s new international terminal

With this new service, Kozhikode residents now enjoy one-stop connectivity to 22 destinations, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, Jaipur, Pune, Varanasi, and more, seamlessly connected through Bengaluru, where Air India Express operates 344 weekly flights.

Air India Express, already the largest airline operating out of Kozhikode with 95 flights per week to 13 Middle East destinations and two domestic destinations, further enhances its reach. Bengaluru residents, with the introduction of this new flight, gain convenient access to connect to Middle Eastern destinations via Kozhikode.

The airline’s robust network extends beyond this new route, with 90 weekly flights from Kochi, 58 from Thiruvananthapuram, and 52 from Kannur, solidifying its position as the largest international airline on Kerala–Gulf routes. On the domestic front, Air India Express connects Kochi with direct flights to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and New Delhi, while from Thiruvananthapuram, it operates domestic routes to Bengaluru and Chennai. The airline has also recently introduced Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode flights. Kannur, boasting 42 international and domestic flights to Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram, completes the expansive network.
