The state of Uttarakhand has been chalking out plans to develop the Himalayan ski resort Auli into a world-class adventure tourism destination and a year-long holiday destination. Satpal Maharaj, Uttarakhand’s Tourism Minister recently held a meeting of senior tourism officials to create a master plan for the development of Auli as an international tourist destination.
ETTravelWorld reported that once the master plan is implemented, the ski resort would become a round-the-year- tourist destination, according to the Minister. A skiing village will be developed in Auli along with organization of various activities related to adventure tourism throughout the year.
Auli is a well-known destination in Uttarakhand where tourists from across the country can be seen enjoying the snowfall in winter. Quite a number attend the skiing championships that take place there
This will include skiing in winter and adventure sports like trekking, hiking, and rock climbing for all age groups in the other seasons. The Minister also said that training slopes would also be made for children.

Uttarakhand’s Chief Secretary, S S Sandhu recently visited Auli and saw the tourist facilities. He said that any challenges in the implementation of the master plan for Auli’s tourism development will be overcome in consultation with the stakeholders, including the Indo-Tibetan Border Security Force (ITBP), Army, etc.
