External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar interacted with the winners of Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz on Wednesday (August 16, 2023) in New Delhi on Wednesday.

He expressed happiness over his interaction with the Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz winners.

“Great to interact with the winners of Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz today morning. Their strongest feedback was of the transformational impact of Digital India. Also appreciate their enthusiasm in propagating this message of change across the world,” Jaishankar tweeted.

The Bharat Ko Janiye quiz serves as a dynamic platform, inspiring the global Indian diaspora and foreign youth to delve deeper into their knowledge about India. It is designed to ignite the inquisitiveness of the younger generation, fostering a comprehensive awareness of India’s diverse facets.

The inception of the Bharat Ko Janiye quiz was announced during the 13th PBD Convention on January 8, 2015, in Gandhinagar, by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. Recognizing the significance of the digital era and communication, the Prime Minister proposed an annual online quiz competition named “Bharat Ko Janiye” for young overseas Indians residing beyond the country’s borders.

In accordance with the declaration, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) launched the inaugural edition of the Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz in 2015-16. This event catered to two categories: People of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), aged between 18 and 35. The top ten participants from each category were privileged to embark on the transformative “Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra,” a 15-day expedition across India, thoughtfully arranged by the Ministry. The climax of the Quiz unfolded in New Delhi, graced by the presence of the Honorable External Affairs Minister.

Subsequently, the second iteration of the ‘Bharat Ko Janiye’ quiz was conducted during 2018-19, embracing an additional category – Foreign Nationals (FNs), accentuating the quiz’s international appeal.

The third edition of the quiz, contending with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, shifted its format entirely online. From November 1 to December 29, 2020, the virtual quiz engaged participants from various corners of the world. A noteworthy 125 individuals emerged victorious in the preliminary round, earning coveted Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals alongside certificates of merit. The final round showcased 15 exceptional winners, encompassing the top three achievers and two consolation victors within each category.

In celebration of India’s 75th Independence Day, the MEA orchestrated the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav online Quiz” in January 2022, extending its invitation to all foreigners, PIOs, and NRIs between the ages of 14 and 35. The culmination of the AKAM quiz was marked by a special event during the AKAM week for the MEA on February 21, 2022. This event, graced by the Honorable Minister of State for External Affairs, unveiled the outcomes of the quiz.

The 439 triumphant participants of the AKAM online Quiz were poised to receive prestigious Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, handed over by the dignitaries of Indian Missions in their respective countries on August 15, 2022, signifying a tribute to India’s momentous journey towards independence.
