The supplemental fee has been proposed at $5,000

Getting US green Card may be easier in coming days. A new bill has provision to grant legal permanent residency in the US in exchange for a supplemental fee.

The bill has given hope to a large number of people who have long waitlist period to get permanent residency in the US.

It would be a boon for thousands of Indian IT professionals who are waiting to get US residency and their applications are pending for quite a long time.

The visa in exchange for a supplemental fee would reduce the backlog, as many professionals have capability to pay the visa amount and the backlog would get cleared.

The country quota on Green Cards, however, will remain unchanged, as the visas would be considered only from already applied applications

The supplemental fee has been proposed at $5,000. The US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee released a report stating that any “employment-based immigrant applicant having a priority date more than two years before the immigrant, can request a waiver of the numerical limitations.”

If the bill is passed, it has provision also of investor category under which the visa seeker may have to deposit $50,000.

The country quota on Green Cards, however, will remain unchanged, as the visas would be considered only from already applied applications.
