On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) ha showcased stunning creative and art installations across the terminal for each of the passengers to resonate this vibrant festival, a CSMIA press release said.

“All passengers travelling through CSMIA can participate in India inspired activities in its one-of-a-kind ‘artist and passenger’ activities, conducted till November 10, 2021.”

With the continued endeavour to brighten up this year with happiness and prosperity, CSMIA brings the true spirit and essence of Diwali to its passengers with its ‘Diya Decoration’ and ‘Kandil Making’ Workshop. Passengers can not only learn the art and craft behind decorating a Diya or making a Kandil, but they also get to take them as a souvenir and use them to light up their homes, the release said.

These fun activities will be held from 10:00 am to 05:00 pm. Passengers travelling through the airport would also be visually awe-struck by the stunning colossal golden-Kandil installations, which are painted in beautiful acrylic colours and is covered with crystals to add to the grandeur of the lantern.

The colossal gorgeous looking Kandil centre piece are set-up in various locations inside the airport terminal and other focal installations to spread the merriment of Diwali across the Terminals. The terminal will also be lit up on this auspicious occasion of Diwali celebrations to add to the festive ambience of the airport.

In addition to Diwali activities, CSMIA also organized ‘Ganjifa Painting’ workshop for the passengers, in the celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ – a portrayal of India’s Independence and its glorious history.

Ganjifa which means playing cards in Persian, is an ancient Indian card game. They are traditionally hand-painted by artisans on a circular sheet of paper. Professional artists, through this workshop demonstrated the process of painting this perishing art of drawing Ganjifa Cards. The event was conducted on 2nd of November at Terminal 1 and today i.e 3rd November at Terminal 2.

All the staff members present will continue to wear their masks and would practice social distancing at all times. CSMIA welcomes all its passengers on this joyous occasion to join in the festivities.
