Addressing a Kullu Dussehra celebration in Ottawa, the Chief Minister highlighted Himachal’s cultural heritage and encouraged overseas engagement with the state
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has extended greetings to the Indian diaspora in Canada and invited them to visit and explore investment opportunities in the hill state.
The Chief Minister recently delivered his message through a special video address during a Kullu Dussehra celebration held at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The event was hosted by Canadian Member of Parliament Marie-France Lalonde and organised by the Himachali Pravasi Global Association (HPGA).

In his address, Sukhu described overseas Himachalis as the state’s “true brand ambassadors” and said the event reflected the rich cultural traditions of Himachal Pradesh

He encouraged members of the Indian community in Canada to reconnect with their roots by visiting the state and considering investment prospects
The celebration showcased several aspects of Himachal Pradesh’s cultural heritage. Guests were treated to performances of the internationally recognised Himachali folk dance Naati and a traditional Ram Leela presentation. Authentic Himachali Dhaam cuisine was also served during the event.
More than 35 regional community organisations participated in the programme, highlighting the unity and cultural pride of the Himachali diaspora living abroad.
HPGA co-founders Bhagya Chander, Arun Chauhan and Vivek Nazzar thanked the Chief Minister for his message and acknowledged his support in promoting Himachali culture internationally.
The event was attended by the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Canada, senior diplomats, community leaders and other distinguished guests.
Separately, the Himachal Pradesh government announced plans to hold a special overseas recruitment drive on October 9 at the Government Polytechnic in Hamirpur. The initiative aims to create international employment opportunities for young people in the state.
According to an official release, the recruitment drive will be organised by the Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (HPSEDC) in collaboration with the Departments of Labour and Employment and Technical Education, along with a recruitment agency registered with India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
