Four UK Universities to Offer £10,000 GREAT Scholarships to Indian Students in 2027

The scholarships will support eligible Indian students pursuing one-year postgraduate courses from autumn 2027, with funding towards tuition fees

Four universities in Greater Manchester, the United Kingdom, will offer GREAT Scholarships 2027 to Indian students seeking to pursue postgraduate studies, providing financial assistance of at least £10,000 towards tuition fees

The participating institutions are Manchester Metropolitan University, the Royal Northern College of Music, the University of Manchester and the University of Salford. The scholarships will be available for eligible one-year taught postgraduate courses beginning in autumn 2027, under the programme’s 2027–28 academic year.

The initiative is part of the GREAT Scholarships programme, jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign, the British Council and participating higher education institutions. It aims to help international students access postgraduate education in the UK.

The courses covered, eligibility requirements and application procedures will vary by university. Indian applicants are advised to consult the institutions’ official websites for details of eligible programmes, admission criteria and deadlines.

  • The University of Manchester offers postgraduate programmes across a broad range of academic disciplines, while Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford provide courses in areas including business and applied subjects

  • The Royal Northern College of Music specialises in music education and performance

Each scholarship will contribute towards tuition fees rather than cover the full cost of studying in the UK. Students will need to budget separately for any remaining fees, accommodation, travel, visas and living expenses.

Applicants should check the relevant university’s requirements and follow its scholarship application process. Admission to a course and eligibility for scholarship funding may involve separate criteria, depending on the institution.

The announcement provides prospective Indian postgraduate students with an opportunity to reduce the cost of studying abroad while pursuing specialist qualifications at UK universities. Further information on individual awards, including application deadlines, is expected to be available through the participating institutions.
