Global Maithil integration campaign launched

The idea is to bind Mithila residents and migrants and non-migrants living outside Mithila in the thread of unity

For the all-round development of Mithila culture and Maithili language, a group of people from the Indian state of Bihar’s Mithila district launched an awareness programme. It sought the participation of the Indian diaspora from Mithila to preserve Mithila’s old culture and one of the oldest languages of the region, i.e Maithili.

The group launched a ‘Global Maithil integration campaign’ for the development of Mithila and Maithili.

For this, a recitation ‘Jai Jai Bhairavi’ was organized for a global audience through virtual mode. The idea was to bind Mithila residents and migrants and non-migrants living outside Mithila in the thread of unity.

On the call of non-resident Maithili industrialist Ajay Jha, Vice-Chairman of Maa Shyama Trust Committee and former President of Maithili Academy, Pt Kamalakant Jha, a programme was organised at Shyama Mandir in Darbhanga city. The programme started under the direction of a famous Odissi dancer and founder of Srishti Foundation, Jayaprakash Pathak. Senior student of the Foundation, Priyanshi Mishra presented soulful dance in Odissi style on poet Kokil Vidyapati’s classic composition ‘Gosauni Geet Jai Jai Bhairavi’.

Immigrant Maithilis from about 90 countries attended the programme.

In his online address, Ajay Jha said, “Jai Jai Bhairavi Udghosh programme was aimed at linking the Maithils all over the world. The migrant Maithilis from 90 countries enthusiastically participated and turned it into ‘Vishwaghosh’.

Dr Baidyanath Choudhary Baiju, General Secretary of Vidyapati Seva Sansthan, said that Mithila was the country in the ‘Treta’ period and in the restoration of its lost identity, the unannounced national song of Mithila Jai jai Bhairavi proved to be a milestone in representing the universal unity of Mithila.

Dr Shripati Tripathi, Head of the Department of Religion, Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, described this campaign of worldwide Maithil unity as a historic cultural moment.

Prof Ramesh Jha, Head of the Department of PG Maithili, wished for the success of the purposeful campaign.

Presiding over the programme, Pt. Kamalakant Jha said on the occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Shastri and Madhup, this campaign of new awakening and renaissance among Maithili speakers would be successful in connecting the entire Mithila.

Chaudhary Hemchandra Rai of Mandir Trust Committee proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was organized by Praveen Kumar Jha, Media Coordinator of Vidyapati Seva Sansthan. Devotees of Mother Shyama including Yoga instructor Chandra Mohan Chaudhary, founder of Srishti Foundation Jayaprakash Pathak and Runa Mishra were present on the occasion.
