“UK Visas and Immigration is experiencing very high demand, meaning that, in some cases, it may take longer than usual to process visas. We encourage all new applicants to apply for their visa as early as possible and not make travel plans until you receive your visa,” the British High Commission in India Tweeted on Wednesday. It has advised that people should make travel plans only after getting the visa.

Under the new visa programme announced last week, applicants can enter UK on a work permit without having a valid job offer

On April 23, 2021, UK put India on its red list during the second wave. Indian citizens were not allowed to enter UK through British citizens/residents going from India needed to quarantine in a hotel on arrival in the UK for ten days. On August 8, India moved to the amber category of UK, under which travellers from India are now allowed without a mandatory 10-day hotel quarantine.

Meanwhile, according to another report, a new UK visa route could attract more high-skilled Indians. Under the new visa programme announced last week, applicants can enter UK on a work permit without having a valid job offer.
