Muscat , Oman– The 44Cup Oman, the final event of the 2022 44Cup Tour, concluded in Muscat with three races held further out to sea due to light winds. Team Nika won the second race of the day to claim the event trophy, but Charisma won the final race to bring a successful season to a fitting close.

Having won three events back-to-back, including the class World Championship in Portorož in October, that win allows Charisma to move from fifth place to third and finish the season as overall 2022 44Cup winners by a margin of seven points.

About the 44Cup:

Since its launch in 2007, the 44Cup has combined the business world with elite sailing, allowing enthusiastic amateur owner-drivers to race high-performance one-design yachts with and against some of the world’s best sailors.

The RC44 is a lightweight, high performance one-design racing yacht co-designed by five-time America’s Cup winner Russell Coutts with naval architect Andrej Justin, creating as level a playing field as you could wish to find in international yacht racing.

All participating boats are identical in terms of construction, shape of hull, appendages, weight and weight distribution, as well as enforcing a 50-50 split between amateurs and professionals in each eight-person crew.

Fleet racing is very short, intense, and action-packed, with a target race time of 40 minutes. The boats are frequently separated by just seconds at the finish line.

Each regatta usually features three or four races per day over a four-day regatta, meaning the 44Cup offers the fleet more racing each season than any other owner-driven racing circuit in the sport.
