Indian-American physicians’ global summit in Hyderabad in January

To be held in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at Hotel Avasa (Hyderabad), the summit’s focus this year will be on “Prevention Is Better Than Cure Through Technology, Telemedicine & Transformation”

 The Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) will hold their 15th annual Global Healthcare Summit (GHS) in Hyderabad, India from January 5 to 7, 2022.

To be held in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at Hotel Avasa (Hyderabad), the summit’s focus this year will be on  “Prevention Is Better Than Cure Through Technology, Telemedicine & Transformation” an AAPI press note, released through news India Times says.

 The AAPI president Dr. Anupama Gotimukula says “Harnessing the power of Indian Doctors worldwide, the AAPI Global Healthcare Summit platform has evolved with the support of prominent global and Indian medical associations,”

 The other collaborating partners in the summit include senior leaders from leading healthcare organisations such as pharmaceuticals, device and medical equipment manufacturers and major medical teaching institutions, hospitals and from the Ministries – Health, External/Overseas Affairs and regulatory bodies 

The ultimate goal of the summit will be to provide access to high quality and affordable healthcare to all in India, organisers say.

 Some of  the topics / subjects to be taken up during the three-day summit are chronic diseases, notably diabetes, cardiovascular, hypertension, COPD, oncology, maternal and infant mortality, as well as emerging ones – trauma and head injury, transplant and minimally invasive robotic surgeries

Chair of AAPI GHS USA 2021 Dr. Udaya Shivangi, says some new events will be added to the traditional items on the annual Summit agenda. 

“The GHS 2022 will focus on envisioning future digital health solutions, and preventive strategies with state-of-the-art CMEs and symposiums with information on current and emerging issues and trends in healthcare.”

Since 2007, AAPI has organised 14 Indo – US/Global Healthcare Summits and developed strategic alliances with various organizations.

Founded in 1982, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin represents the values and interests of more than 80,000 practicing physicians in the United States.

In addition, it also serves as a platform for more than 40,000 medical students, residents, and fellows of Indian origin in this country. One in Seven people in the USA, at some point or the other are touched by a physician of Indian origin 

The  AAPI also has a Charitable Foundation (AAPI-CF) that supports free clinics and health fairs in India. To date, more than 17 such clinics are active in various states of India under the AAPI partnership.
