Kerala CM appeals Delhi to assist Indians affected by UAE rains

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged the Indian government to establish a mechanism for extending assistance to Indians facing hardships due to heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The call for support comes in the wake of unprecedented rainfall in the Gulf nation, where a year’s worth of rain was reported to have fallen in a single day, as per PTI reports.

Expressing deep concern over the situation, Vijayan emphasized the need for urgent aid to those affected by the deluge in the UAE. In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt appreciation to the Malayali expatriates actively engaged in rescue operations in the region, highlighting the strong bonds between Kerala and the Gulf countries.

“Heavy rains in Gulf countries are a serious concern. A year’s worth of rain fell in a day in UAE, highlighting the urgent need for assistance. We request @MEAIndia to urgently ensure a mechanism to support Indians who are in hardship. Kerala and the Gulf share warm ties, and we extend our sincere gratitude to all Malayali expatriates involved in rescue efforts,” he conveyed.

The appeal from Kerala’s Chief Minister underscores the importance of providing timely aid and support to the Indian community facing adversity abroad. As the Indian government assesses the situation, efforts are expected to be intensified to ensure the safety and well-being of affected individuals in the UAE.
