Booking.com’s Travel Predictions 2022 research has shown that this year will see Indian travellers making new connections. Even as the world continues to move through uncertainties, travellers are optimistic about travel possibilities and want to make up for lost vacation time, according to Booking.com’s recent research findings. Holiday romances are expected to be on Indian travellers’ agenda this year.
People now want to break out after seeing the same faces for the past year and a half. Many of them will be using their favourite dating apps while on vacations in 2022. And, all this while travelling. Booking.com’s research has predicted a resurgence of holiday romances, with 77 per cent of Indian travellers hoping for one on their next trip. In fact, the research also revealed that 74 per cent of Indian travellers would want to stay somewhere close to plenty of nightlife options so that they can meet new people. While a vacation can act as a starting point for holiday romance, it doesn’t have to stop when parting ways at the end of the trip, thanks to video calls becoming part of everyday lives. That simply means that one would expect to see more than a few holiday romances turn into strong life-long bonds.

Meeting new people is often the starting point of romances. For many, the pandemic meant spending an extended and intense period with close friends and loved ones, giving limited facetime with new people. In 2022, travellers will use their vacations as an opportunity to expand their usual social circles, with 81 per cent of Indian travellers wanting to meet new people while away. Further, 77 per cent of Indian travellers would look forward to socialising while on vacation in order to expand their social circles.
