Ravi Deecee’s recognition underscores the growing importance of translation and literary diplomacy in building bridges between cultures, reaffirming the power of literature as a universal medium for dialogue and creativity
Ravi Deecee, a leading figure in Indian publishing, has been awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, one of France’s most esteemed cultural honours, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to literature and cross-cultural engagement. The award celebrates his decades-long efforts to expand Malayalam publishing and bring world literature to Indian readers.
The prestigious accolade was presented by H.E. Thierry Mathou, French Ambassador to India, at a ceremony held at the Embassy of France on December 4. The event brought together notable figures from India’s literary and cultural spheres. The Chevalier, one of three grades in the order, is conferred by the French government to individuals who have made significant contributions to arts, culture, and literature globally.
Ambassador Mathou acknowledged Deecee’s transformative role at DC Books, where he serves as Publisher and Managing Director. Under his stewardship, DC Books has emerged as one of India’s leading publishing houses, building an impressive catalogue of translated works.
