Crackdown begins on job fraud targeting Indian workers

Authorities have indicated that further arrests are expected as investigations continue, signalling sustained efforts to combat fraud targeting migrant workers
UAE authorities have expanded their crackdown on online job fraud targeting Indian workers, with multiple networks coming under investigation within the past 24 hours. The action follows a rise in complaints from individuals who were lured by fake job offers circulated through digital platforms.
Officials stated that fraudsters used social media and messaging apps to advertise high-paying jobs, often impersonating legitimate companies. Victims were asked to pay upfront fees for processing and travel arrangements, only to discover that the jobs did not exist.
“This is a growing challenge driven by digital fraud,” authorities noted. Enforcement teams have conducted raids and seized electronic devices linked to the networks
Indian officials have urged workers to verify job offers through authorised recruitment channels. Community organisations have intensified awareness campaigns to prevent further cases.
Experts highlight that online recruitment scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated. “Verification is the only effective safeguard,” analysts observed.
