The US announced its new travel policy that will be operational from November 8 onwards. It is something that eager travellers across the world are looking forward to. It will follow the vaccine recognition guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to this, the U.S. pharma regulator, FDA, will have to approve or have Emergency Use Listing status from the WHO. There will be very limited exceptions to these vaccination requirements, the White House has said. Even though vaccinated, air passengers will need to be tested within three days before travel.

Till now, there have been different rules for different countries of origin. This will substantially ease pandemic-related curbs for travellers from India, the U.K., Ireland, South Africa, Brazil and the Schengen Zone. Now the guidelines based on vaccination status will be more consistent.
This will apply to air travel and travel for non-essential purposes via land borders shared with Mexico and Canada.
With this, it is largely felt that the global international travel policy will become both stringent and consistent, guided by public health requirements.
Travellers to the US, however, will need to continue to show a negative Covid-19 test report three days prior to departure from their point of origin. According to authorities concerned, no exemption to these guidelines has been announced so far, and they are most unlikely.
