NRI businessman from UAE announced 1 crore cash prize for hockey star Sreejesh

As a goalkeeper in the team Sreejesh saved many goals from the opponents that helped India win its first Olympic medal in hockey after 41 years

In yet another show of philanthropy UAE-based NRI businessman Dr Shamsheer Vayalil announced a cash prize of Rs1 crore (Rs 10 million) for Indian hockey player PR Sreejesh. His role in the team became a factor for India securing Bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, which concluded on Sunday.

Day after the conclusion of the Tokyo Olympics Dr Vayalil announced the prize for Sreejesh, who belongs to the Indian state of Kerala. As a goalkeeper in the team Sreejesh saved many goals from the opponents that helped India win its first Olympic medal in hockey after 41 years.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sreejesh for his spectacular performance throughout the tournament.

Dr Vayalilis the chairman and managing director of VPS Healthcare.

He played a big role reconstructing a hospital which was damaged in 2018 Kerala flood.

The devastating 2018 floods brought widespread destruction and damages to Kerala. It is praiseworthy the way Kerala rebuilt and more commendable is the support of the NRI from Kerala who extended all possible help to the State and its people.

The Kerala born NRI businessman Vayalil rebuilt the PHC with an expense of Rs 10 crore. The newly built health facility has become the largest Family Health Centre in India. It got inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday (July 24, 2021).
