Udupi Police have arrested a Dubai-based NRI on the charges of hatching a conspiracy to kill his wife on July 12 in her flat.

The woman Vishala Ganiga was strangulated with cable wire and pillow inside her apartment near Brahmavar.

Vishala’s husband Ramakrishna allegedly planned the woman’s murder from Dubai by hiring supari killers from north India to carry out the murder.

The police arrested Ramakrishna when he arrived from Dubai along with his daughter to take part in the final rites of Vishala.

After interrogation, the police arrested Ramakrishna, as they suspected illicit affair of the accused and property matters to be the reason behind the murder.

The victim had gone to the bank and then to her apartment for some work. When she did not come back after several hours, her father became anxious. Then only he found that she was strangled with a cable wire and pillow.

The interrogation wing of the case is in touch with their Uttar Pradesh counterparts to help arrest the contract killers.
