Singapore Minister Indranee Rajah commended the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) for its outstanding efforts in connecting and networking with PIOs and the Indian diaspora in Singapore.
Rajah highlighted the significant role played by GOPIO Singapore in establishing the GOPIO International Business Council, which has been instrumental in facilitating business interactions and networking among PIOs. The council also organizes business conferences to provide a platform for sharing business opportunities within country chapters.
GOPIO has forged partnerships with local Indian organizations to host cultural programs, fostering stronger bonds between the local community and foreign PIOs
Speaking at the GOPIO Singapore’s Fund-Raising Dinner and 21st anniversary celebrations on July 31, Rajah praised GOPIO’s collaborative work with community partners such as the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) in organizing biennial youth conferences that bring together PIO youths. This initiative has been instrumental in helping PIOs integrate into Singaporean society through various cultural and sports activities organized by GOPIO. Additionally, GOPIO has forged partnerships with local Indian organizations to host cultural programs, fostering stronger bonds between the local community and foreign PIOs.
The Minister emphasized that these efforts have successfully brought together diverse communities, strengthening the ties between Singapore’s local community and the broader Indian diaspora.
She also acknowledged GOPIO’s global presence, with more than 40 chapters worldwide catering to the needs of the Indian diaspora. The organization’s dedication and commitment to fostering connections and promoting cultural exchange have been vital in bridging gaps and building a more inclusive society in Singapore.
