The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has organized a study to include insurance cover for inbound travellers coming to India. In a communication to tourism officers posted in various Indian missions, TAAI wants a survey done from outbound travel agents to ascertain how many travellers were taking an insurance policy before arriving in India.

TAAI along with the Government’s Ministry of Tourism, wants to study the inclusion of insurance cover for inbound travellers to opt for and its benefits in case of any medical emergency or hospitalisation or any other exigencies such as flight cancellations, accidents, daily allowance, wellness, loss of personal belongings, etc for travellers to India.

The association further said that the insurance cover will include peace of mind for travellers, protection from exorbitantly high expenditure which might incur due to any health issues, and above all for the Indian healthcare system, it will substantially reduce the burden

Commenting on the development, Jyoti Mayal, President, TAAI told ETTravelWorld, “We believe that outcome of such a survey will eventually help the Indian travel trade, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of External Affairs to ascertain and assess the importance of opting the insurance coverage before entering India.”

The association further said that the insurance cover will include peace of mind for travellers, protection from exorbitantly high expenditure which might incur due to any health issues, and above all for the Indian healthcare system, it will substantially reduce the burden.
